The Balmoral Show is Northern Ireland’s largest annual agricultural and food event, typically attracting a footfall of over 100,000 visitors across its four-day run.

Organised by the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS), it is held at the Eikon Exhibition Centre at Balmoral Park, Lisburn. Queen’s University Belfast arranges a variety of stands around research and education during the event.

Team members delivered an interactive stand with living and preserved mosquitoes and midges, showcasing their life cycle and diversity, as well as potential risks to Northern Ireland. The exhibit also included a fun practical illustratration of experimental vector-borne disease transmission.
